Lindt Lindor Hazelnut Milk Chocolate Truffles

When it comes to chocolate, the Lindt brand is one that's often brought up in my posts. I don't know when I decided that the Lindt wast he superior choice when it came to higher priced chocolates that you can find at supermarkets, but it was certainly after trying many different brands. I think I really like Lindt and Hershey's Bliss line because they are very rich compared to other higher priced supermarket chocolates. When you eat a Lindor truffle, it feels like you may have put a bit of butter into your mouth. And it's not just the texture that appeals to me, the flavor is also very rich compared to the other brands.

Admittedly, this was a flavor that I put off trying just because I'm not a big fan of hazelnuts. I've often associated hazelnuts with Ferrero Rochers, and while I don't dislike Ferrero Rochers, I've just never really been into hazelnut. I know there are many people who enjoy Nutella, and I'm okay with Nutella, but I won't go gaga over it. If given the choice between Nutella and peanut butter, I'd probably go with the peanut butter. Now a real craze that needs to catch on is the speculoos craze. There's a spread that's worth raving about, but onward to the review.

That's right, the Lindt company forces that one man to make every truffle one by one or else he'll never see his family again

A hazelnut truffle split in half

Well, if there's one fault I can find in these truffles, it is that they often taste too similar to each other. Sometimes when buying a new flavor, I am a bit disappointed because I expect the flavors to be very different from each other. What do I mean? Well, their white chocolate truffle and stracciatella truffle taste very similar. Their vanilla one doesn't taste too far off from their white chocolate one either. It is only when they get into flavors such as peanut butter and raspberry that you really taste the difference between the truffles.

This truffle tasted very much like their milk chocolate truffle, except with VERY subtle hints of hazelnut. I won't say that I didn't like it, but again, I was a bit let down. I guess I was expecting this to have the texture of a Lindor truffle with the flavor of a Ferrero Rocher, but what I got was a slightly crunchier Lindor milk chocolate truffle. It is by no means bad, as I love the Lindor truffle line, but it's nothing to get excited over.

Lindt Lindor Hazelnut Milk Chocolate Truffles: 8.5/10 (-0.5 for slight disappointment)

Milka Lil Stars Crispees

If you recall from my last post, I stated that Milka is one of the brands I would buy if I were looking for a chocolate that was slightly more expensive than Hershey's. The reason why I like the Milka brand is that every product of theirs that I've tried has a very smooth texture and does have a very creamy/milky taste to it. I'm glad that this brand is becoming more widely available in major retailers as their products certainly are very good

This is the reason why I needed to purchase these as soon as I saw them at a Wal-Mart that's too far for me to frequent very often. When I saw this bag, I instantly thought of Whoppers. When I was younger, I used to love Whoppers, but as time went on, I found that they were just okay. I also noticed that there's a picture of wheat on there. Well, it's time to see what this is like.

A Lil Stars Crispee

A Lil Stars Crispee that's been cut in half

The chocolate surrounding the center was very good. It had that smooth milky flavor that was mentioned before. The center itself was interesting as it wasn't quite like a Whopper center. When you get to the center of a Whopper, the inside is usually aerated and such, but this candy was more solid. It also had a slight scent of wheat, as expected. I could see myself finishing a whole bag and then some of these if I weren't so afraid that I might add a few waist sizes. Overall I thought this was good and that if you get a chance, you give products from Milka a go.

Meiji Earl Grey Chocolate

Milk tea is something that I never really got into until college. It's a flavor combination that always seemed a bit odd to me. When people ordered milk tea I always imagined someone mixing the tea from Asian restaurants with some milk, and that didn't appeal to me at all. However, as I got older, I realized that milk is a pretty good combination. There's the scent of the tea, the richness of the milk, and a slight sweetness that goes along with it all. With that being said, how would people feel about chocolate milk tea?

The good folks at Meiji have answered that question with this candy. If there's green tea chocolate, green tea ice cream, and Earl Grey ice cream, why not Earl Grey chocolate, right?

The back of the box

A stick of Earl Grey chocolate

I definitely got a strong scent of tea when I bit into this chocolate. At first, I was a bit disappointed in the chocolate, because it wasn't very rich. However, as I tasted it a bit more, I grew to like it. It's not too rich, not too sweet, and is very aromatic. The texture is a bit brittle at first, but it will eventually melt. If you like milk tea, then you should definitely check this product out because it's basically milk tea turned into little sticks. However, be warned, this candy is a bit pricy. It costs about as much (or a little more, depending on where you buy your milk tea) as a cup of milk tea, and it doesn't last very long if friends or children are around.

Mint M&M’s

I’ve mentioned in several posts that certain candies remain the same because they sell well. I’m sure there are people that work for candy corporations that wish that they could propose a large variety of flavors in the United States, but who would buy them? Besides me, of course. That makes it all the more exciting for me when a big name candy decides to put out a new flavor.

Mint is a flavor that should have come out much earlier. The combination of mint and chocolate has been around for a while, so I don’t know why M&M’s never got on that. They’ve put flavors like raspberry and cherry, and those weren’t all that great. They had a “premium” line of M&M’s if you recall, and those were pretty bad considering they had no candy shell, which is an integral part to M&M’s, and they cost a lot more than M&M’s. Finally, someone working for the Mars, Inc. got some sense into them. Maybe they’ll start putting out strawberry M&M’s and orange M&M’s.

Only two colors for this flavor

The mint flavor wasn’t overpowering and I enjoyed this very much. It didn’t blow me away, but I couldn’t stop eating them. Being addictive is the mark of a good snack anyway, right? While the bag states that these are “dark chocolate” the chocolate tasted very much like plain milk chocolate M&M’s with a good hint of mint. If you’re tired with plain, allergic to peanuts, or you dislike pretzels and coconut, give this flavor a try. The only real fault one could complain about is the fact that these M&M’s come in only shades of green, but green is a great color anyway, so it makes no difference. Go get a bag of these before they disappear like Crispy M&M’s.

Twix Coconut

Coconut is a touchy subject for some people. Some love it, some hate it. When I'm talking about coconut, I'm not talking about the fresh kind, I'm talking about the flavoring you find in candy of course. There are some people that love Almond Joys, while others may have a strong dislike for it. However, what would happen if you were to mix coconut with a beloved candy bar?

It's hard not to like Twix. Flavor wise, it's delicious. Texturally, it combines chewy and crunchy in a pleasing fashion. The only Twix variety I see a lot of in stores that isn't Original is Twix PB, so Twix Coconut is a bit of a risk, but it's Twix so it has to be good, right?

Cross section of a Twix Coconut bar

Texturally, this is still the Twix you know and love. However, when it comes to flavor, you have to ask yourself, "Do I like Twix more or do I like coconut flavoring more?" Well, if you like Twix more, you might not like this as much as Twix Original just because the coconut flavoring pretty much overwhelms everything else. I happen to like coconut, so I didn't mind it at all, but if you have an aversion to coconut this won't be your favorite. Overall, this is was good, but I think I would prefer Twix Original.

Ben & Jerry's: Phish Food

It's summer, it's hot, so that means it's time to indulge in everyone's favorite summertime treat: ice cream. Admittedly, I like ice cream during any weather, but during summer it tastes even better. It's a cool relief from the heat and it tastes delicious. Ergo, I decided to do a piece on it.

Ben & Jerry's is famous for not just their unique flavors, but for their price as well. A pint of Ben & Jerry's is around the same price as a quart of most other brands. However, you won't find flavors like Cherry Garcia or Chubby Hubby with other brands. That being said, I can appreciate a simple vanilla as much as something like Phish Food. This was inspired by a topic that I saw on the forums of bodybuilding.com, so I decided to go with a flavor that was regarded as one of the best.

The story behind the name. The band Phish apparently really likes Ben & Jerry's.

Overhead view of Phish Food

Given the choice between vanilla, strawberry, or chocolate ice cream, I would probably choose the first two over chocolate. I'm also not a big fan of Rocky Road, which is what this flavor's description was leading me to believe. However, this was a very good flavor. It was rich and like the other Ben & Jerry's flavors I have tried, there was a lot of stuff going on outside of the chocolate ice cream. It wasn't too sweet, and despite the picture above, there's A LOT of marshmallow and caramel swirls, which are also delicious. I guess the only thing that I can't gush about are the fudge fish. Whereas the rest of the ice cream is smooth and rich, the fudge fish are somewhat of a hindrance. They're like a protective measure to make sure you don't finish the ice cream too quickly. Even though they got in the way, the fish are still good and just think of them as overgrown chocolate chips. Unless you truly detest chocolate, I would say that this was a great flavor.

Ben & Jerry's: Phish Food: 9.5/10

Oh Henry!

Continuing with the theme of candy bars that not many people buy we have:

I’m not sure what to make of the name “Oh Henry!” but it apparently comes from the man who invented it, Tom Henry. It’s a good way to get your name out there I suppose. There are other theories out there, but I’ll just accept this one as the truth. Anyway, the wrapper looks very old-timey like a Mr. Goodbar. Candy bars like this seem like they would have been advertised in my brother’s old comic book collection, and they probably were. The description is nothing special, chocolate, fudge, caramel, and peanuts, which you can get with Snickers.

A cross section of an Oh Henry! bar. They come in two mini-bars

How would I rate an Oh Henry!? Well, the flavors are okay, there’s nothing special about them. The texture of the caramel is a bit rubbery and gives it a bouncy feel. The peanuts are just a smidge better than Baby Ruth peanuts. Overall, it’s an okay candy bar, but it’s not as good as the big names like Snickers. Try it for the texture, if nothing else.

Oh Henry!: 7/10

Big Cherry

Cherry and chocolate is a combination rarely seen outside of cherry cordials. Many people like chocolate. Many people have a preference for cherry when they eat fruit candies. Why not combine the two? Keeping in theme with candy you don’t really come across very often, I decided to write about another one.

Big Cherry certainly would be a big cherry if it were really that big. However, it is a cherry surrounded by cherry syrup, covered in chocolate, and sprinkled with nuts for good measure. I’m not a big fan of cherry cordials, but I am a big fan of adventure when it comes to food.

This looks kinda bad

Oh my...

Welp

Well, it tastes better than it looks is all I have to say. The chocolate wasn’t an enjoyable experience as it was far too nutty for my liking. Honestly, every bite was too nut-laden to enjoy the chocolate. The syrup was a bit too sweet for my liking and didn’t lend enough cherry flavor or smell. The cherry was a cherry drowned in syrup and dying of sugar asphyxiation. This was not a very enjoyable candy for me, but if you enjoy cherry flavored candies then you could give it a try.

Big Cherry: 6/10

Cup o Gold

There are some candies you don’t run across unless you’re in a place like a convenience store or the impulse aisle somewhere. For some reason or another, certain candies aren’t featured as much as other candies. An example of this is Whatchamacallit. While these can be found in impulse aisles at Target and other stores, rarely have I seen it sitting next to a big bag of candy in the candy aisles.

Cup o Gold is a candy that you rarely find even in convenience stores and impulse aisles. They are plentiful in candy shops, but not outside of candy shops. Cup o Gold is a rare treat for me seeing as how it’s kind of hard to find, unless you’re at Fry’s or a candy shop a lot, and because I don’t often buy it because I never can remember if I like it or not. I figured why not and decided to give it a go.

A Cup o Gold

The center of a Cup o Gold

Texturally, Cup o Gold is very solid. This meant that I could cut through it, so I had to resort to biting it to expose the middle. The cream in the middle is a bit fluffy and has a marshmallow whip type of texture. In the chocolate you’ll find bits of almond and coconut. Flavor wise Cup o Gold is good, but its fault is that it may be too sweet. It may sound ridiculous to say something tastes too sweet when it comes to candy, but maybe it’s because I was expecting something like a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. I have an affinity toward Reese’s PBC and PB M&Ms because the sweet is cut by the salty peanut butter. Overall though, if sweet is your thing, and you don’t mind having to bite a little harder to get to the center of a chocolate cup, Cup o Gold may be your thing.

Cup o Gold: 8/10

3 Musketeers Cherry

No, I'm not dead yet, I just had a VERY relaxing week off which consisted mostly of Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Anyway, Valentine's Day was many weeks ago, and when I bought these candies, a few days had already passed. Who can pass up candy that's more than 30 to 50% off? I know I can't, so here's a write-up on one of them.

3 Musketeers is not my favorite chocolate bar. If I had a choice between this and any other chocolate bar, I'd probably choose the other bar, but not if the other bar was a Baby Ruth. It's not that 3 Musketeers is terrible, it's just that it's just not good. The chocolate fluff is boring and the flavor is forgettable. A plain chocolate bar is preferable over a 3 Musketeers bar in my opinion. However, as you can see, this is a cherry flavored 3 Musketeers bar. They have Mint 3 Musketeers which is better than the regular 3 Musketeers. That's available year-round though, so I figured at a discounted price, 3 Musketeers worth giving a shot.

A fun-size 3 Musketeers Cherry cut in half

This is definitely the best of the 3 Musketeers bunch in my opinion. The cherry flavor isn't too overpowering like that of a cherry cordial. The cherry essence is a nice compliment to the the dark chocolate flavor. Neither flavor dominates, and both are able to mix very well. The cherry fluff gives a sweet fruity flavor while the dark chocolate holds it back from being too sweet. While, this was good, I could see it becoming disgusting after too many. It is better than regular 3 Musketeers though, and because of it's unique, seasonal flavor, I might choose this over a different candy bar.

3 Musketeers Cherry: 7.5/10

Matcha Meltykiss

In America, green tea has been steadily growing in popularity. The health benefits attributed to green tea have led to the rise of green tea extracts being sold in markets. The flavor isn’t bad either, seeing as how there are things like green tea ice cream and there are many different green tea flavored drinks. However, an area that green tea hasn’t been able to gain popularity in America yet is the candy market. If one were to go into an Asian market, or more specifically, a Japanese market, one would see that in the candy aisle there are green tea flavored candies. Some find the flavor of green tea to be delicious, but I could take it or leave it. I would be more likely to buy a cola flavored candy over a green tea flavored one. However, the packaging for the next product looked so nice that I bought it anyway.

Meltykiss is a chocolate candy that comes in little cubes. The outside of the candy is dusted with cocoa powder, giving it a much stronger chocolate flavor than typical chocolate candies. Inside is a very smooth chocolate that has a rich taste. Usually they have a cocoa or strawberry flavor. I’ve had caramelized almond flavor, and now this matcha flavored variety. When I first bought this, I thought that it was mint chocolate because I didn’t read the box. I mean the box has snowflakes on it and everything.

A Matcha Meltykiss cut in half. I swear I didn’t bite this one. Okay, maybe I did, but you’ll never know

The consistency and texture of this Meltykiss is just like all other varieties of Meltykiss. The outside still has the cocoa powder which gives the candy a pleasantly bitter and cocoa flavor. As the candy melted, it became sweeter and the matcha flavor started to come out. Was there anything special about the matcha flavor? Not really, if you like matcha then you’ll like this, if you’re not that enthusiastic about it, then this won’t change much. My favorite Meltykiss flavor is still good old cocoa. This is still a good candy, but it’s not my cup of tea.

Matcha Meltykiss: 7.5/10 (increase the score if you’re a fan of green tea)

Ghiradelli Dark Chocolate & Strawberry Squares

As mentioned in the previous entry, Ghiradelli is one of the very few chocolate brands that's putting out a strawberry and chocolate combination for Valentine's Day.

The packaging is obviously geared toward Valentine's Day. I'm not going to lie, I'm not a fan of Ghiradelli. Despite them being known exclusively for their chocolate, I just find that their products fall flat, especially in the face of Lindt and Hershey's Bliss line. Their chocolate seems to not have the extra richness that I like in my chocolate. Maybe some like their chocolate to boast a strong chocolate taste, but I like mine to have more than just that. However, they did put out a strawberry and chocolate square, so I must commend them for that. I also like their seasonal product such as their Egg Nog and Peppermint Bark squares.

The horror that is inside each square

The flavor of the chocolate was okay, not good, but just okay. The filling reminded me of cherry and raspberry flavors more than it did of strawberry. That was a bit disappointing. Some parts that seemed to ooze with filling didn't even give off a hint of fruit, which was somewhat confusing as well. Overall, I applaud Ghiradelli's attempt to cash in on Valentine's Day, but overall they produced something that was just okay, and not very good.

Ghiradelli Dark Chocolate & Strawberry Squares: 7/10

Lindt Lindor Truffles: Milk Chocolate & Smooth White Filling

Valentine's Day is a few weeks away, but for the past month or so, stores have been stocking their shelves with Valentine's Day candy. As mentioned previously, Valentine's Day candy is, more often than not, regular candy that's packaged in red and pink and priced a few cents to a few dollars more than their non-holiday counterparts. Lindt is one of my favorite chocolate makers, and they also have capitalized on this. I decided to see if there was any merit behind them listing some of their products as "Limited Edition"

I'm pretty sure that "milk chocolate & smooth white filling" is a flavor that they have put out before. It is also a product that will generate many jokes from kids in middle school and up. Despite this, I decided that in the spirit of Valentine's Day, it would only be proper if I took a go at this and reviewed. Regardless if it's really a limited edition flavor, I haven't written about it before, so it was worth a try either way.

The chocolate ball cut in half

Like most Lindt chocolates, this didn't disappoint. The filling was creamy and gave a slightly buttery taste. The flavor was exceptional and not too sweet. However, how was this a limited edition flavor? Again, they're probably just trying to capitalize on Valentine's Day being around the corner, so they probably decided to put out an already existing product and labeling it as limited edition. I would like to see Lindt put out something with strawberry or cherry filling perhaps to reflect Valentine's Day. They have a raspberry flavor out, so I suppose that's sort of a change. Ghiradelli chocolate has put out a dark chocolate and strawberry flavor, which I will write about later, and I would like to see Lindt put one out as well. Anyway, in regards to THIS product, it is like other Lindt chocolates and is a better than most of the chocolate you'll find sitting next to it in on the shelves.

Lindt Lindor Truffles: Milk Chocolate & Smooth White Filling: 9/10

Mini Strawberry Crunch Bars

It's a few weeks before Valentine's Day, and stores, such as Target, are starting to put out pink and red packages for their candies. There's nothing really different between Valentine's Day candy and regular candy outside of the little hearts on the Valentine's Day candy. However, some candies like Kisses have decided to put out raspberry flavored chocolates. I'm also glad to see that Ghiradelli has put out "limited edition" strawberry chocolate squares. Since that long explanation led to the subject of strawberry chocolate, I'd like to write about another familiar product that has also put out a strawberry chocolate flavor.

Albeit, it's a Japanese variety of a familiar American product, but I figure it's all the same. Now when they start selling Twix varieties from the UK here, oh boy. Anyway, I don't really see foreign versions of Crunch bars, so this seemed like an endeavor worth trying.

The mini "bars" actually come in two squares

It had all the texture and familiarity of the Crunch bars you can find in America, so that's good. The strawberry flavor slightly overpowered the chocolate flavor, but it didn't completely hide the chocolate, which was good. I'm hesitant to say that I would prefer this OVER Crunch bar. I'd say that it would be nice to have this every once in awhile. This was not better, not worse, but it was just different. It's on par with the regular Crunch bar. The best variety of Crunch bar, in my opinion, is the White Chocolate Crunch Bar.

Mini Strawberry Crunch Bars: 8/10

European Cheese Kit Kat

Some things are just so ridiculous that they're worth trying at least once just to know what they're like. For instance, I had tacos with brains as the meat not too long ago. Was it good? It was okay, but I wouldn't have chosen it over any other meat. Likewise, this product falls in the line of, "I don't know what it is, but I need to try it"

That's right, European Cheese Kit Kat. Just when I thought Ginger Ale was the most ridiculous flavor they could come up with, Kit Kat has this. I don't know whose idea it was to make this a flavor, but they're probably trying other ridiculous flavors with Kit Kat, like mayonnaise or something. On a side note, the box was very nice.

It's like opening a treasure chest

And finding Kit Kat inside

When I first unwrapped the Kit Kat there was a very pungent cheese smell coming from it. Think of a cheese with a very powerful smell and you have the smell of European Cheese Kit Kat. The flavor, however, was like that of a normal Kit Kat. I would say that it tasted like white chocolate Kit Kat. It was just the typical Kit Kat sweetness with no hints of saltiness or any hidden surprises. The texture of the Kit Kat wafer and the smell of the cheese reminded me of those cheese and cracker snacks that I used to like as a kid. The smell was outrageous, the flavor was not, and I came out sort of confused by the smell coupled with the flavor. All in all, it was worth the try and I was not disgusted. I must, however, knock it for being relatively expensive to a bag of Kit Kats and yielding only 10 mini bars. For the price of this, I could have bought a two bags of fun size Kit Kats.

European Cheese Kit Kat: 7/10

Apple Oreo Bar

You know what's not seen often? Apples and chocolate. When was the last time you got apple and chocolate ice cream? How about a chocolate chip apple cookie? Well, the common accompaniment to apple is caramel. There are candied apples, caramel apples, and other things that are some sort of sticky, sugary friend to apples, but that friend is never chocolate. Luckily, I found that, sometimes, apples can be friends with chocolate.

Here is, yet again, another Japanese Oreo bar. You never know what flavor you're going to get with these; I know I didn't know what flavor this was because all the text is in Japanese. However, the market where I got this from, was kind enough t label it as Oreo Apple.

The Apple Oreo Bar fortunately broke into perfect halves for me as I was driving home

Now I know why chocolate isn't apple's best friend. Chocolate likes to drape over things, but apple just wants a friend to hang on to him, not one that will smother him. When they hang out, there's a discord as to who should take the leading role. This wasn't a bad bar, but it wasn't particularly good. The oddest part of this bar was actually the Oreo bits. By the time the chocolate and apple flavored filling had melted, there were these Oreo pieces that were still lingering that left that familiar, slightly bitter Oreo cookie taste in my mouth. The other flavors of Oreo bars were much more pleasing because they used flavors that seemed to go well with each other. It was interesting, and it was worth trying, but I wouldn't want to see apple and chocolate again unless apple brought along his friend caramel.

Apple Oreo Bar: 6.5/10

Elite Milk Chocolate with Popping Candy

Some weeks ago, I found that students liked the novelty of having popping chocolate. The problem was that the market I usually bought them at had run out. I came in week after week, but these chocolates had become a rare commodity. I had to think of another place where I could get that chocolate. I decided to look online for the chocolate, but unfortunately, I was not able to find the same brand. However, I did find out that another company that did make a chocolate that featured popping candy, so I placed an order and just got them.

You may recognize the cow on the wrapper. It turns out that this is from the same company that brought the chocolate with candy pieces from a previous entry. The company name is Strauss-Elite and it's based in Israel, which explains why I wasn't able to tell what the Chocolate with Candy Pieces was all about. Anyway, let's take a look at this wrapper. Look at the edges of the chocolate squares, they are exploding like fireworks. That's what I expect to happen in my house.

A square of chocolate. All the light spots are the popping candy

The initial bite didn't yield any popping. I was kind of disappointed when this happened; the chocolate was good, but I bought this chocolate for its novelty as well. However, as the chocolate began to melt, there were many mini-explosions going on in my mouth. I was satisfied that there was a large yield of popping candy. This candy was good, and I don't know why there aren't popping Hershey bars. The closest thing in the American market are Wonka Tinglerz. As I've said in previous entries, I am not a fan of Mr. Wonka's chocolates, but I do like Tinglerz. America, this is another thing you need to get on.

Snicker Cruncher

With 2010 coming to an end, one would assume that I would make a post acknowledging holiday candies. Well, one would be wrong because holiday candies are often the candies you can find year-round with nicer packaging. Of course, there are some candies, such as peppermint bark, which are exclusive to this season. However, I have plenty of the stuff to write about it at another time, so relax. The next item is going to be something you won't be able to find at most convenience stores:

Snickers again? Come on! Well, I'm going to write about this kind of Snickers because I'm not sure where else to get it besides a random rest stop shop in Millbrae. Also it had funny writing on it, so that's always interesting. And look at those peanuts and crispy rice pieces flying at you. Or are they flying into the bar? I'm not sure.

The inside of a Snickers Cruncher

This candy bar reminded me very much of a Kudos bar. I'm assuming that they replaced the nougat with the crispy rice pieces. I'm not sure if anyone remember Kudos bars, but they were sort of like chocolate bar with crispy rice in the middle, but much chewier and less crispier than one would think. This bar wasn't bad, but it wasn't as good as the other variations of Snickers. I suppose I like the combination of the peanuts, caramel, and nougat.

Snickers Cruncher: 7/10

Snickers Peanut Butter

There are some candies that are mainstays. These candies include Twix, Sour Patch Kids, and Warheads. These are candies that are so well known and so loved that it would be hard to improve on them. In-fact, trying to do so would probably tarnish the product; I mean, do McDonald's fries need any improving? Another product that has stayed relatively unchanged over the years is Snickers. Snickers may have other varieties outside of the good old original Snickers bar:

Snickers bars are delicious as is peanut butter, but as I've learned in my previous experiences, combining two good things rarely produces something better than its parts. However, Snickers is a candy bar that I like very much and I enjoy peanut butter, so I decided to give it a chance.

As you can see, Snickers Peanut Butter comes in squares

A cross-section of Snickers Peanut Butter squares

Let's get to the point, little was improved with this candy bar. It's a bit smoother than an original Snickers bar, but otherwise I can't say it was any better than an original Snickers. There were still whole peanuts in the bar to go along with the peanut butter in the bar, so I suppose if you really like peanuts you would like this candy bar. I couldn't taste any caramel, and I rather like caramel in Snickers bars, so I guess that's a bit of a minus with this bar. Overall, it was good, but I wouldn't choose it over an original Snickers bar.

Snickers Peanut Butter: 8/10

Kinder Country

For the past several times that I've visited the European market I go to, the man working there has really been trying to sell Kinder products. I've been more interested in Kras' Full Cool with Popping Candies because the kids love it so much, but the last time I visited the shop, I finally decided to buy the Kinder products he was advertising. I've already mentioned Kinder Bueno, Schokobons, etc., so here's another product from Kinder:

I don't know why, but Kinder Country was sold behind the counter as opposed to the other Kinder products. Maybe it's just that good. Anyway, as the picture shows, there's some sort of grain in the chocolate and cream of some sort. Kinder products haven't disappointed in the past, so why should Kinder Country?

A square of Kinder Country

Well, Kinder, once again, does not disappoint. What surprised me about this product was the lack of nuts. In nearly ever Kinder product I've eaten, there has always been some sort of hazelnut filling. Kinder Country on the other hand does not. The candy was very nice and creamy, while the grain and cereal gave a nice contrast and aroma. This chocolate joins the ranks of other Kinder chocolates that are very good.
